Playtime Dress by Oliver + S Now Princess Dress

We went to Disney on Ice last week,  and the girls had more fun than I expected! Braelyn, although being almost 2, absolutely loved it, and Fabiana loved, in her words, "all of them". When Daniela and I bought tickets a few weeks ago, we knew we wanted to make the girls special princess dresses to wear.
We went through so many different patterns and fabrics then decided on the Playtime Dress by Oliver+S.

This is a new pattern and is really designed to be made out of knit fabric. The pattern does list that for the dress and the tunic you can use just about anything. This pattern appealed to us because it looked simple enough that we could play it up with an appliqué, and we liked the idea of the topstitching details. The picture on the cover does not do a good job of showing that detail, but after looking over the entire envelope, you see it.

The dress is very easy to make and a fairly quick project. The only quirk we ran into was that the back facing did not line up correctly on either dress. I’m not sure if that was something we did when tracing or cutting out or if it is a pattern error. It did happen with both sizes. It was an easy fix, so it did not affect the end result. We did not topstitch the pockets on; it just did not go with the princess theme.

I love this dress, especially the top stitching. I’m looking forward to making the leggings (Did I mention they only have one pattern piece!) and the tunic out of knit.
